- Complexated calcium can replace sodium ions attached to soil particles, particularly in the exchange sites of clay particles. This exchange helps to flush out excess sodium through leaching, thereby reducing the overall salt stress on plants. As a result, plants can better absorb water and nutrients from the soil.
- By displacing sodium ions with calcium, the product helps improve soil aggregation and structure. Calcium ions encourage flocculation, or the clumping together of soil particles, which enhances soil aeration and permeability.
- The complexation of calcium with organic acids enhances the availability of calcium to plants. Calcium is a crucial nutrient that plays a vital role in cell wall stability, enzyme activity, and overall plant structure.
- Lignosulfonic and heptagluconic acids can chelate (bind) and complex with potentially toxic ions, reducing their availability to plants and thereby mitigating toxicity symptoms associated with high soil salinity, such as leaf burn or necrosis.
